About 25,000 still without power in South Jersey

Almost 19,000 South Jersey customers are still without power Saturday afternoon as Atlantic City Electric continues to restore utilities in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

According to an ACE outage map, Atlantic City and coastal Ocean County continue to be the hardest hit areas. At 3 p.m. Nearly 16,000 are in the dark on Long Beach Island; almost 1,600 customers are without power in Atlantic City.

Other areas with outages include Ocean City, where almost 550 are without power, and the downbeach communities of Margate and Ventnor, with more than 200.

Jersey Central Power and Light, meanwhile, is reporting nearly 680,000 customers without power, including 110,000 of them in Ocean County and 9,200 in South Jersey.
