SOMERS POINT — Police arrested a man Sunday for allegedly entering several local homes and approaching females who were sleeping.

In three separate incidents Friday night into Saturday morning, John Sargent, 22, of Atlantic City, entered a home and “approached and engaged with” several females while they were asleep, police Chief Michael Boyd said. The incidents occurred in The Gates at Somers Point apartment complex, the 100 block of Johnson Avenue and the 600 block of West Maryland Avenue.

All but one of the females were juveniles. The other was an 18-year-old.

Boyd said that in all of the incidents but one, it appeared Sargent was scared away before he was able to make contact with the victims. The department was still investigating one of the cases Monday.

Sargent was charged with three counts of burglary, one count of criminal restraint and one count of harassment. He was held at the Atlantic County jail on $75,000 bail, police said.
