Atlantic City police are investigated the shooting of a woman late Thursday night in a first-floor unit of the Seashore Club condominiums.

Ashari Haile, 19, was found with a gunshot wound to the shoulder inside an apartment at 3501 Boardwalk shortly after 11 p.m., Sgt. Monica McMenamin said.

She was found conscious and taken to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center for treatment for the wound, which is not considered life-threatening. Uniformed officers checked for a suspect who fled on foot, but he was not found.

Police were knocking on doors in an attempt to question residents of the complex.

A male friend who shares the apartment with Haile told police two males came inside, assaulted him and shot her, according to the report. The North Philadelphia couple just moved to the city four days ago for a job at a local restaurant.

There was little description of the suspects. One was a light-skinned black male wearing all dark clothing. The other was a dark-skinned black male with a gun wearing all dark clothing.

The victims indicated that both suspects were wearing identical black coats, but didn't specify the style. Nothing was taken. There was some damage to the apartment, including a broken mirror and television, McMenamin said.

The lead investigator is Detective Joseph Iacovone. Anyone with information is asked to call the Atlantic City Police Department at 609-347-5766.
