Atlantic City police were able to get a woman off the ledge of a casino after she threatened to jump tonight.

The woman, whose name is not being released, was on the 10th floor of the Tropicana Casino Resort threatening to jump after 9 p.m.

Detective Franco Sydnor, a police negotiator, was called to the scene. He and Sgt. Mike Camp were able to grab the woman, said Capt. Tim Friel, who heads the negotiators.

"It's not our normal approach, but the situation dictated the action," Friel said.

The woman was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
