The newly renovated Bartram Avenue Park has officially opened.

Previously filled with sand, the park between Bartram and Kingston avenues in Atlantic City’s Lower Chelsea neighborhood now has a grass lawn making it more conducive for outdoor concerts and events, officials said. Work on the park began last month.

Material replicating a Boardwalk was installed on the edge, allowing for a cohesive presentation with the Boardwalk, which runs adjacent to the park. Plant materials and mulch give the park a more finished look, the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority said in a news release.

The park is one of 10 sites in the Tourism District that will see landscaping renovations undertaken by the Special Improvement Diivision of CRDA.

Sixth Ward Councilman Tim Mancuso said the park is an example of the cooperation seen among city government, residents and the CRDA.

“When we all get around the table, we are able to accomplish good things for our neighborhoods,” Mancuso said in a written statement.

By Nov. 30, the SID plans to make improvements to the southwest corner of Albany and Pacific avenues, the west side of Maryland Avenue behind Atlantic Avenue storefronts, and the intersection of New Hampshire Avenue and the Boardwalk.
