Bicyclist killed when hit by a truck in Atlantic City

A 26-year-old Atlantic City man riding his bike was killed when he was hit by a tractor-trailer Thursday night in the resort, police said.

The accident happened at 8:10 p.m. in a residential neighborhood at Rhode Island and Melrose avenues, Sgt. Monica McMenamin.

Tariq Davis was hit as the truck was making a left turn onto Melrose after stopping at a stop sign on Rhode Island Avenue. The truck driver is from Delaware, McMenamin said.

The case is under investigation by Atlantic City police and the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office, but no charges have been filed as of yet.
