Brigantine's long-term recovery group, BrigStrong, will host a commemoration Sunday of the first anniversary of Hurricane Sandy.

The event, to be hosted at the Brigantine Beach Community Center on 42nd Street South, will begin with a 2 p.m. ceremony recognizing locals who assisted during and after the storm, City Clerk Lynn Sweeney said. It will include food, music and other activities. Festivities will conclude at 6 p.m.

Sandy made landfall near Brigantine as a post-tropical cyclone Oct. 29, 2012, but BrigStrong officials scheduled the event early to avoid conflicts with other commemorations.
