A homeless Philadelphia woman accused of stabbing two tourists to death last year in Atlantic City will be arraigned today.

Antoinette Pelzer, 44, is accused of attacking Alice Mei See Leung, 47, and her 80-year-old mother, Po Lin Wan, as the Canadian women walked along Pacific Avenue on May 21.

A police officer was able to disarm Pelzer within seconds, and the women were rushed to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s City Campus a half-block away. But both died of their injuries.

Leung was attacked first and Wan came to her daughter’s aid, according to information released at the time.

Pelzer had apparently been in the city just a short time, and the killing raised questions about the city’s homeless problem and the safety of visitors.

Pelzer, who family members have said is schizophrenic, is jailed on $1.5 million bail.
