Lessons in boating safety available
The Coast Guard Auxiliary will offer a boating safety education course in “About Boating Safely” beginning on March 16 at the Atlantic City Coast Guard Station at 900 Beach AvenueCQ. The 8-hour course will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and will cover topics such as boating law, safety equipment, safe boating, navigation, boating problems, etc. The class will also be offered on April 20, May 18, June 15, July 20 and Sept. 21.
The beginner boating class is open to anyone and will offer participants the knowledge needed to obtain a boat safety certification.

Home and garden show set
The 13th annual New Jersey Home and Garden Show returns to the Atlantic City Convention Center from March 8 to 10 with plenty of inspiration, free seminars and celebrity tips for do-it-yourselfers and those who want to change their indoor or outdoor space. Special guest this year is Roger Hazard, television’s original home stager on A&E’s Sell This House.
The show will feature the latest trends in home design, including landscapes and outdoor living, pools and spas, home security, and solar energy. Highlights include free seminars on home improvement and related topics, including cooking and basket weaving; complimentary wine tasting and an expanded Art, Gift and Gourmet Area; Kid’s Zone with workshops courtesy of Home Depot; green living exhibits and a live plant sale.
Hours for the event are 2 to 7 p.m. March 8, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. March 9 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 10. Admission is $8.50 for adults 17 and older, $5 for seniors, $5 for retired military, and free with ID for active duty military. Guests ages 16 and under also are admitted free of charge. Attendees pay once and can come back free for the whole weekend. There will be free tote bags for attendees while supplies last.
