Latest Video

The 2013 Chinese New Year — the Year of the Snake — begins Feb. 10, and the Atlantic City Free Public Library has scheduled an afternoon of programs that day in celebration.

The Greater Philadelphia Asian Culture Center will join in the festivities, which will include traditional music and dance, calligraphy and paper cutting.

The music and dance performance, along with the calligraphy, are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. No registration is required.

As part of the library’s weekly Fun Day Sunday schedule, the paper-cutting program will be held 2 p.m. in the Main Library’s second-floor meeting room. Space is limited, and registration is required. Sign up by visiting the Main Library’s Youth Services Department (second floor) or call 609-345-2269, ext. 3050. Participants in this program will learn about Chinese paper-cutting traditions and will create their own dimensional snakes.
