Group needs new meeting spot

Princess Inc., the Pleasantville and Atlantic City-based organization that serves young women by promoting healthy self-esteem, is looking for a new meeting spot.

The group lost its meeting space at the Atlantic City Police Athletic League building after Hurricane Sandy. The group typically meets from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursdays and needs a place that would allow food. Its first meeting is scheduled for Jan. 10.

Spaces are available for new member enrollment for girls ages 13-22. Applicants must pay a registration fee of $35 and have a GPA of at least 2.5. To enroll, call 609-287-4235 or 609-892-9544.

Polar plunge planned

for beach at Resorts

The Atlantic City Polar Bears will make their annual plunge into the Atlantic City Ocean at noon Jan. 1 in front of Resorts Casino Atlantic City. Each person who jumps into the chilly ocean will receive a commemorative finishers certificate.

Annual Polar Bear Plunge

scheduled for Jan. 1

The annual Brigantine Polar Bear Plunge will take place at 11 a.m. Jan. 1 at the 14th Street Beach. The event has grown from a local event into a major fundraising effort benefiting Fisher House, a top-rated charity that provides housing and transportation to wounded military members and their families. The 2013 goal is $60,000.

The event kicks off with live music, refreshments, color guard and official merchandise for sale. Participants in the plunge are encouraged to wear costumes with prizes awarded to the best costumes. The swim is set for noon followed by a post-plunge party at the Laguna Grill,1400 Ocean Ave. which will feature special food and drink pricing for the event. The Mott's Creek Pickers will provide live entertainment.
