Summer Program planned

The Brigantine Community Education and Recreation Department has announced its summer program. Acitvities start the week of July 8.

Activities include Time for Tots, rec baseball, rec softball, rec soccer and biddy basketball. Specialty camps include cooking, guitar, ukulele, theater, art, pottery, multi-sport, stage design, craft and science camps, photography for kids and adventures with ‘American Girl’ reading. Special events include community family fun day, the children’s pet show, the Brigantine Island Triathlon and Surf-Jam 2013.

Camp Brigantine will take place at Brigantine Elementary School from June 24 to Aug. 18. Camp hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with an extended day program available. Kids entering first to sixth grade in September are eligible. Activities include sports, computers, music and more.

The 38th Street beach fitness program runs July 9-Aug. 10. There will be fitness activities Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings and Tuesday and Thursday evenings. A tennis program will offer a variety of events and levels.

Sixteen classes will take place at the Brigantine Beach Community Center as part of the Summer at the BBCC program July 8-Aug. 19.

The CER will sponsor a trip to see the Broadway show ‘Motown’ on Sept. 25, as well as a Southeast Asia cruise Feb. 27-March 16, 2014.
