Hooked on Fishing event set for Saturday

Hooked on Fishing is back on Brigantine Beach. This annual free event is for kids, ages 6 to 15. It will take place from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. July 27 on the beach at 16th Street. Registration starts at 8 a.m.

T-shirts for all participants and free fishing rods for the first 100 to sign up. Prizes and lunch will be provided.

There also will be a water rescue demonstration by the U.S. Coast Guard. Event Sponsored by the Brigantine Municipal Alliance and  the Association of Surf Anglers Clubs.

Brigantine Island triathlon scheduled for Aug. 3

The 26th annual Brigantine Island Tirathlon will be held Aug. 3 and will start at 8 a.m. at the City Dock at 26th St. and Bayshore Ave.

The triathlon consists of a quarter mile swim in the bay, an 11-mile bike ride and a 4-mile run. An awards ceremony and buffet will be held at the 26th Street Recreation Complex, the site of the finish line, immediately following the event.
