A low-flying helicopter spotted Friday morning in Pleasantville was conducting routine inspections on local power lines.

FAA spokeswoman Holly Baker said the hovering helicopter performed a high tension power line check.

This is a routine step taken by Atlantic City Electric to ensure insulators on the towers are functional and in good condition, Baker said. The salt air can create problems for the lines, she said.
