A man who reported being shot in a robbery Saturday night actually shot himself, police said Sunday.
Atlantic City Police Sgt. Monica McMenamin said the man "stated he was robbed and shot," but an investigation by Det. Franco Sydnor revealed the shooting victim, whose name has not yet been released, accidentally shot himself while adjusting a handgun in his waistband.
McMenamin said the bullet traveled down the man's left leg and then into his right foot. The bullet lodged in his toe and was recovered by police.
