Here’s a chance for nonmembers to attend a Greater Atlantic City Chamber mixer without having to pay the usual $10 fee: Bring an unwrapped toy to benefit a local child instead.
That will get you into the chamber’s 15th annual Toy Drive and Holiday Business Networking Mixer on Wednesday at the McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood & Steaks restaurant in Harrah’s Atlantic City, which is hosting the event.
The newly remodeled restaurant will offer complementary appetizers, and there will be a cash bar.
The Greater Millville Chamber of Commerce will hold its Traditional Holiday Luncheon Wednesday at the New Jersey Motorsports Park.
This year the luncheon will include a performance by the Madrigals, a select group of students from the Millville Senior High School Choir, offering excerpts from Handel’s “Messiah” as well as other Christmas classics.
Earl Sherrick, chamber executive director, said the holiday luncheon is one of the organization’s best-attended events and a excellent opportunity for networking with local business associates.
The luncheon will also honor the chamber’s outstanding citizen for December, Irene Bird, whose community service began when she moved to Millville in 1953.
While the Latvia native’s career was in education at the Wood School, she beautified and maintained a neighborhood park near the school now known as “The Bird’s Nest.”
Bird is assistant treasurer of Citizens United to Protect the Maurice River, chairwoman of the Millville Woman’s Club Conservation Committee and a member of the Countryside Garden Club.
The luncheon is sponsored by Reeves and Melvin Real Estate and Insurance. The Flower Farm will provide poinsettias for door prizes.
