My specialty is small businesses that need personal attention. The owners put so much of themselves into the business, but they tend to get lost at a large firm.

I help them with all aspects of their business, not just tax compliance, but planning, financing, payroll and bookkeeping if they need it.

If they want to do bookkeeping themselves, I train them to do it. I am a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor, which means that I have better technical skills in setting up QuickBooks and troubleshooting it. I’ve gone through Intuit’s training and testing.

I’m also certified in Intuit’s QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions, which is for mid-sized businesses that have outgrown the limitations of QuickBooks Pro and Premier.

I’ve helped companies — such as Adams-Perfect Funeral Homes — do conversions from QuickBooks for Mac and onto a cloud-based, server-based enterprise solution.

I also do speaking engagements and QuickBooks training. I have a specialty in QuickBooks for home-based real estate agents and did a presentation at the travel agents convention at Revel last April for home-based travel agents.

As far as individual tax preparation goes, my rates are comparable to the chain tax preparers and I’m here all year, unlike temporary operations

With me, it’s all about the relationships. I’m half-accountant and half-therapist. I care about the people and want to help them.

I’m the kind of person who will take a jewelry box full of tangled chains and sit there with a needle picking them apart. I won’t give up, and that’s the kind of dedication I give my clients.

Entry: I started a cleaning business and cleaned houses for seven years while I put myself through college. After graduating with my accounting degree, I worked for a local firm for three years, and then decided to go off on my own.

Future plans: I also tutor accounting at Atlantic Cape Community College. I’ll be looking for a student to be a part-time accounting intern.
