A conference expected to draw more than 2,000 people from the state legal industry in May will move from Revel to the Borgata.

Bridgeton-based attorney Kevin McCann confirmed Monday the New Jersey State Bar Association terminated its contract with Revel but did not discuss details. McCann issued a statement to bar members on Thursday, which said the casino was not prepared for the event.

“Recent decisions made by Revel have led us to conclude that Revel, in several significant respects, will not be ready to host our event,” his statement said. “The board of trustees made this decision after serious consideration and review of many factors.”

The event, which has been held at the Borgata in the past, will take place from May 15 to 17.

Revel appointed Jeffrey Hartmann its interim CEO last week and is reorganizing under bankruptcy protection.

Dirk Schavemaker, Revel’s senior vice president of resort operations, said in a statement the casino was “fully prepared in every way” to host the convention.

“Our staff has worked closely with bar association leadership in planning the 2013 event, beginning in September of last year,” he said. “ We regret that the leadership has decided to move the event.”
