Nearly 174,000 people went to June's Phish and Metallica concerts at Bader Field in Atlantic City, according to box office reports released today.
That equates to an average daily attendance of 34,762 people, versus the 24,000 fans at each day of the Dave Matthews Caravan Tour stop at Bader Field in June 2011.
A portion of ticket sales is included in the $296,648 paid to the city by promoter Starr Hill Presents to use and lease the 142.3-acre venue formerly used as the municipal airport, records show.
The payment is intended to offset city costs to host the three-day Phish show and two-day Metallica Orion Music + More festival, such as prepping the field and staffing extra police, fire, emergency management and other personnel during the event.
