A Pleasantville man lost control of his SUV and veered into the marsh in Absecon early Saturday morning, seriously injuring himself and his passenger, police said.

George Bland Jr., 29, was driving in the area where Route 30 and Delilah Road intersect around 1:30 a.m. when his vehicle left the roadway and overturned several times, Absecon Police said.

Bland and his passenger, Tasshi Thomas, 24, of Pleasantville, were both ejected and suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries. They were both taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus.

Police believe alcohol and excessive speed were factors in the crash.

Absecon police, Absecon EMS, Absecon Fire Department, Pleasantville EMS and AtlantiCare emergency medical technicians responded to the accident.

The investigation is being handled by Sgt. Raymond Adams and Patrolman Kevin Craig. Anyone with more information should contact Absecon Police at 609-641-0667.
