PLEASANTVILLE — A fire that destroyed a house Monday afternoon on Linden Avenue displaced four people.

Police said the fire began in the kitchen of the home and spread to the attic.

Two individuals — an adult and child — as well as two dogs were taken out of the home with no injuries, police said.

Emergency responders received a call 1:36 p.m., including a call for assistance from Northfield, Absecon, Galloway, Atlantic City Airport and Egg Harbor Township fire departments. Smoke could be seen coming from the second story of the building in the 600 block of Linden Avenue.

The American Red Cross responded to the scene and have assisted the residents, which overall included two children and two adults, with food, clothing, hotel accommodations and referrals to other human service organizations.
