PLEASANTVILLE — A 29-year-old Philadelphia man became Pleasantville's fifth homicide victim this year Tuesday night.

The man, whose name still has not been released, was found shot multiple times on West Ashland Avenue after 9 p.m. His name has not been released because the next of kin have not been notified, Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office spokeswoman Haleigh Walz said.

Neighbors reported hearing several shots and seeing a truck leaving the scene.

This is the second killing in just over two weeks in the city, which hadn’t seen a homicide since January, when three people died — including two Atlantic City brothers gunned down Jan. 20.

With the killing, the city passed its total of homicides for all of last year, which was four. Atlantic County is now one away from last year's total of 23 homicides.
