A teenager who grew up in Atlantic City is its latest homicide victim.

Abdal McBride, 18, was shot on the 500 block of North Indiana Avenue shortly after 9:30 p.m. Sunday. No arrest has been made.

McBride, who was known as Razzaq, was found dead of multiple gunshot wounds after police responded to a shots-fired call.

He had an address in the Sicklerville section of Winslow Township, Camden County, but was known in the city, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.

“I had the opportunity to have Razzaq at the Boys and Girls Club,” City Councilman Marty Small said. “He was a good kid. My heart goes out to the family.”

McBride is the city’s 17th homicide victim this year, three more than all of last year, when 14 people were slain. Twelve people were killed in each of the previous two years.

Small said he plans to lead a group of city officials in looking into technologies that have helped other areas lower crime. He was not yet prepared to give details about the plans.

“We want the residents to know we are exploring measures to make the city safer,” Small said. “We should be able to talk about it in the next few weeks.”
