Authorities blocked off a portion of Atlantic Avenue in front of Trump Plaza for about an hour due to smoke coming up from under the road tonight.

Fire Chief Dennis Brooks said Atlantic City Electric is on the scene and is fixing the problem – which could be due to a wiring problem.

Police blocked traffic for about an hour but are leaving the scene now, he said.

Brooks said underground wires have been a problem for the department and noted some may have been damaged due to the recent Sandy storm.
