Thompson drove his vehicle on the Boardwalk at a high speed causing pedestrians and an Atlantic City bike officer to dart out of the way. Multiple city police officers pursued Thompson who was apprehended at the Atlantic City Expressway toll plaza when he stopped to pay the toll.

Thompson’s passenger John Sulmonee, 33, jumped out of the car during the chase and sustained nonlife-threatening injuries.
