Atlantic City is restricting vehicles on a stretch of the Boardwalk due to an accident involving a crane that occurred last week.

Emergency Management Coordinator Tom Foley said Friday the crane was being transported on the Boardwalk towards the Steel Pier and it fell through the structure.

The city’s Engineer Office examined the area Thursday, and Friday the city decided not to allow any vehicles – including emergency vehicles – on the Boardwalk between Pennsylvania and North Carolina avenues, Foley said.

Foley said repair work will start next week. The stretch will be closed indefinitely, but Foley said it should be open in time for next month’s St. Patrick’s Day parade.
