Traffic is building on the Atlantic City Expressway and Route 40 causeway as people arrive for the Atlantic City Airshow starting at 10:30 a.m.

The crowd is expected to the largest in the event's 10-year run, maybe reaching 1 million people, according to some predictions.

Atlantic City police station officers at all major intersections anyway. In the past, all four towns on Absecon Island has experienced bumper-to-bumper traffic for at least part of the day. And that was when the event was held mid-week instead of Friday, said Sgt. Monica McMenamin.

"There's only so much you can do. With this amount of people and vehicle traffic, there are going to be delays. Our recommendation is to just stay on the beach, or go onto the Boardwalk and get something to eat," McMenamin said. "Try to enjoy for the city for a little bit rather than sitting in traffic. Just hang."
