Two Atlantic City teens were arrested and charged in connection with a shooting Monday in Atlantic City near North Carolina Avenue and Route 30.

A 16-year-old boy was shot and is recovering from a single gunshot wound.

One of the teens accused in the shooting, also 16, ran across Route 30 when police tried to stop him Wednesday — nearly causing an accident, police say. That teen now faces charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, resisting arrest, obstructing the administration of the law and conspiracy.

He had a handgun in his waistband, police said.

On Thursday, a 17-year-old male was arrested, and he faces aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and conspiracy charges, police said.

The Prosecutor’s Office declined to name the suspects because they are minors.

Both suspects were lodged at Harborfields Detention Center in Egg Harbor City.
