Two school buses and a third vehicle were involved in an accident in Atlantic City Tuesday afternoon, according to Atlantic City fire officials.

A total of 25 students had been sent to three area hospitals, Chief Dennis Brooks said. The injuries appeared to all be minor head and neck injuries.

One bus struck a van and then the bus behind it struck that one, Brooks said.

The accident on Arctic Avenue at the corner of Morris Avenue caused a backup in the area of Brighton Avenue School, which was just having dismissal at the time.

The school was being used to triage injured people, Brooks said.

Some students were treated on the bus and could be seen wearing neck braces. Others were taken off the bus on stretchers.

The one bus appeared to rear-end the other, causing damage to the bumpers and taking out the back window of  one bus.

Traffic remains blocked off on Arctic Avenue around 4 p.m.
