A Virginia man visiting an Atlantic City casino learned the hard way this week that gun laws are different in New Jersey.

The Division of Gaming Enforcement called Atlantic City police at about 7:30 p.m. Monday saying they needed assistance with a man with a gun on the Borgata’s casino floor, Sgt. Monica McMenamin said.

Guy Ackerman was arrested, but the gun was not on him, according to the report. Instead, he had put it in his room.

The gun is legally registered in Virginia but was illegal to have in the room in New Jersey.
