Students graduate from Delaware

The University of Delaware’s 164th commencement was May 25, at Delaware Stadium. Graduating students included Nicholas Dicosmo and Gary Woerner, both of Brigantine.

Herndon on commendation list

Eric Herndon, of Brigantine, was placed on the spring 2013 dean’s commendation list at Gettysburg College.

Students qualify with a quality-point average in the range of 3.3 to 3.599 for a semester’s work.

Frost graduates from Stonehill College

Paige Frost, of Brigantine, earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Stonehill College in Easton, Mass.

Townsend-Mobley on dean’s list

Tenicha Townsend-Mobley, a junior human services major from Pleasantville, has been named to the dean’s list at Chestnut Hill College for the spring 2013 semester.

Students are named to the dean’s list if they have achieved a GPA of 3.6 or higher, and are recognized at opening convocation held in the fall semester.

Corbin wins Rick Heiden scholarship

Jawanza Corbin received the 2013 Rick Heiden Scholarship Award of $1,000 at the Atlantic City High School Awards Ceremony on June 13.

The award was established in 2011 by the Heiden family to honor the memory of their son and brother, Richard Heiden, a 1977 graduate of ACHS. He was an outstanding student and athlete and a member of the record setting two-mile relay team in 1977. Each year, the award is given to a graduating senior who displays high academic achievement and good sportsmanship.

Corbin plans to attend Montclair University in the fall with a major in finance.

‘All About Light’ art winners

The Galloway Cultural Arts Committee has announced the winners of the current show, “All About Light.” This show runs to Sept. 21 at the Galloway Township branch of the Atlantic County Library on Jimmie Leeds Road. The winners are:

Oil/acrylics: first, Donna Litts, of Galloway Township, ‘Burning Glow;’ second, Leon Wescoat, of Absecon, ‘New Dawn;’ third, Rosalyn Jennings, of Pleasantville, ‘Rise and Shine.’
