Doran on dean's list

Genna Doran, of Atlantic City, Class of 2015, was named to the fall 2013 dean's list at Immaculata University in Pennsylvania. To qualify, a student must achieve a grade point average of 3.7 on a scale of 4.0.

Li on dean's list

at Rensselaer

Yue Li, of Atlantic City, who studies chemical engineering, was named to the dean's list for the fall 2013 semester at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York. The dean's list recognizes full-time students who maintain grade-point averages of a minimum of 3.0 out of a possible 4.0 and have no grades below C.

Students at Fairleigh Dickinson University's College at Florham, in Madison, have been named to the Dean's and Honors Lists for the fall 2013 semester. They included:

Qiqi Chen and Dajah Solomon, both of Atlantic City, Dean's List; Alexis Price, of Atlantic City, Honors List.

To qualify for the Dean's List, a student must carry a 3.2 or better grade point average out of a possible 4.0 and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 letter-graded hours (four courses). To qualify for the Honors List, a student must carry a 3.5 or better grade point average out of a possible 4.0 and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 letter-graded hours (four courses).

Students at Fairleigh Dickinson University's Metropolitan Campus, in Teaneck, have been named to the Dean's and Honors Lists for the Fall 2013 Semester. They included:

Bria Anderson, Rashanna Butler and Stacey Torres, all of Atlantic City, Honors List; Diana Logan and Jaleesha Mills, both of Pleasantville, Honors List.

To qualify for the Honors List, a student must carry a 3.5 or better grade point average out of a possible 4.0 and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 letter-graded hours (four courses).

Students on dean's list

at RIT

Students who made the dean's list for the fall 2013 semester at Rochester Institute of Technology included:

Sunny Harjani, of Atlantic City, a first-year student in the computing exploration program in RIT's B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences;

Bennoni Thomas, of Pleasantville, a first-year student in the new media interactive development program in RIT's B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences.

Degree-seeking undergraduate students are eligible for Dean's List if their quarterly GPA is greater than or equal to 3.4, they do not have any grades of Incomplete, D or F, and they have registered for and completed at least 12 credit hours.

Solorzano wins

Atlantic Cape Community College volleyball and softball player Jessica Solorzano, a Pleasantville native and graduate of the Atlantic County Institute of Technology, has been named a Woman of the Year by the New Jersey Association for Girls and Women in Sports.

Women of the Year recipients were honored at the annual New Jersey National Girls and Women in Sports Day luncheon at Seton Hall University on Feb. 9. Solorzano, 19, is a student at Atlantic Cape's Academy of Culinary Arts, and intends to pursue a bachelor's degree in hospitality management upon graduation.

The sophomore plays both volleyball and softball. She was an outfielder for the Bucs' 2013 softball team, which recorded its most wins in its history. She was volleyball team captain and outside hitter in fall 2013. She was nominated by her softball coach, Sean Thomas, who praised her leadership and volunteerism.

She is active in volunteering, most recently at the Atlantic Cape Adopt-a-School event in December for Charles Spragg Elementary School children. She also received Atlantic Cape's first NJCAA All Academic Team Award for the 2013 softball team and was named All-Academic Garden State Athletic Conference and Academic All Region in volleyball in 2012 and for softball and volleyball in 2013.
