Egg Harbor Township fire officials extinguished a vehicle fire in the Scullville section of the township Monday afternoon.

Michael Fiedor, chief of the Scullville Fiore Company, said a motorist of a 2-door Chevrolet Blazer was traveling on Zion Road near Ocean Heights Avenue around 1:30 p.m. today when he heard a clicking noise and smelled smoke.

The driver pulled over at Cumber, land Farms and firefighters and police responded to block off the roadway. The fire started in the engine and spread to the front seat, Fiedor said.

The fire was extinguished and the scene was cleared within an hour, Fiedor said.

“The guys did an absolutely super job with the fire and the police did a great job getting everything off (the road) for us,” he said.

No injuries were reported and the vehicle was towed, he said.
