Egg Harbor Township school officials are investigating allegations that a substitute teacher struck one or more students at the E.H. Slaybaugh this week, possibly using a yardstick.

Superintendent Scott McCartney confirmed Friday that an accusation had been made. He said the district also provided the information to the Egg Harbor Township Police Department and the state Department of Children and Family’s child protection division as part of the district process for such investigations.

McCartney said the substitute will not be used by the district during the investigation.
