EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP — The township will host a community meeting Thursday night for Federal Emergency Management Agency officials to answer area residents' questions about Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts.

The meeting at the EHT Community Center is the latest of several planned meetings between the agency and South Jersey residents.

Mayor James "Sonny" McCullough urged residents to attend. He said, "There are going to be major changes confronting people who live in low-lying areas," including changes to flood insurance and other costs. McCullough described information as "a lot of very important changes that will have a long-term impact on peoples' properties."

Peter J. Miller, the township administrator, said he expects seven or eight FEMA officials with different areas of expertise will attend. There will be seven or eight tables set up for the officials and residents to talk about different assistance programs.

A similar meeting in Little Egg Harbor Township earlier this month drew a standing room only crowd to the Pinelands Regional High School. That town saw several thousand homes destroyed by Sandy.
