A 26-year-old home health aide allegedly pawned jewelry stolen from one of her clients, prompting a joint investigation by Egg Harbor Township and Hammonton police.

The investigation was launched after the recovery by Egg Harbor Township police of several suspicious pawn receipts for jewelry on Monday that had been sold over the last week.

An investigation by Hammonton police traced the pawned jewelry to an elderly subject in the care of Melissa Haugh, 26, of Little Egg Harbor Township.

Haugh was charged with theft, possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia in Hammonton. She was also charged with two counts of receiving stolen property and theft by deception in Egg Harbor Township.

Haugh was released on summons on all of her charges pending a court date.
