Energy assistance expo set

United Way’s Project Warm Heart and the Atlantic County Sheriff’s REAL Help program have teamed up to present a free Economic and Energy Assistance Resource Expo from 1 to 7 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Shore Mall in Egg Harbor Township.

The expo is intended to connect those in need with assistance programs and services that are available in the community. Applications for energy and other assistance programs will be available. Program guidelines and restrictions may apply. The following documents will be needed to complete the application process: Social Security cards for all household members, proof of income, lease, property tax bill or mortgage statement, recent income statements, SSI, SSD, TANF and GA award letters, affidavit of non-income if not working, and current energy bills.

The expo will take place inside the Shore Mall in the space in front of the Division of Motor Vehicles. The expo is open to the public and free. For more information, call Fran Wise at United Way at 609-404-4483 or Sheriff Frank Balles at 609-909-7211.

Food drive set

The Community FoodBank of New Jersey is holding a Holiday Turkey and Food Drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 10 at stores including Acme in Mays Landing and ShopRite store in Somers Point and Egg Harbor Township. The Community FoodBank of New Jersey, Southern Branch, 6735 Black Horse Pike, Egg Harbor Township, also will be open at that time to accept holiday food donations.

Items requested include frozen turkeys (frozen only, no fresh), canned soups, stews, fruits, vegetables, pasta, rice, grains and other nonperishable foods. Items only in cans, no glass jars or bottles. For more information, call Colette Kraus, food sourcing coordinator at 609-383-8843, ext 116.
