Fernwood Avenue Middle School receives grant from A.C. Electric

Fernwood Avenue Middle School, Egg Harbor Township, and West Cape May Elementary School, West Cape May, are the 2012-13 Atlantic City Electric Educational Grant Program recipients. Atlantic City Electric awarded a $2,500 grant to Fernwood Middle School and a $2,100 grant to West Cape May Elementary School.

Fernwood Middle School will implement its Eco-Energy Buddies Program. The program will pair Egg Harbor Township High School students with their “Eco-Energy Buddy” middle school students to engage in activities that promote renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar, as well as ways to conserve energy in homes, schools and the community.

Through Atlantic City Electric’s Educational Grant Program, schools can apply for a grant up to $2,500 to support educational programs and/or innovative projects including electrical safety, wise energy use, local alternative energy sources, environmental impact, economic implications and energy-related science content.

Since 2009, the Atlantic City Electric Educational Grant Program has donated more than $18,000 to schools throughout its service area.
