Police ask public’s help on streetlight safety

Egg Harbor Township Police have launched a safety initiative and ask the community to help.

Police said in a news release that they request residents check their neighborhoods and routes of travel for street lights that are not operating. Police also will be checking. The goal is to make sure all township street lights are working by Halloween night, police said.

Police said anyone who finds a non-working street light should get the pole number attached to the light, and report the outage to Atlantic City Electric by phone at 800-642-3780 or online, by going to ehtpd.com and using the Online Tools menu to the Report a Street Light Outage link, which open a links to the Atlantic City Electric Street Light Problem Form. Residents also can visit atlanticcityelectric.com and click on the street light problem link in the Alerts and Outages box. Click on “click here” in the “report the outage box” and an online form will open. Complete the form and click on “submit” to send it to Atlantic City Electric, police said.
