FoodBank seeks gardeners
The Community FoodBank of New Jersey, Southern Branch, is looking for volunteers to garden two plots at the Community Garden at the Egg Harbor Township Historical Society Museum.
The museum is located at 6647 West Jersey Ave., Egg Harbor Township. The harvest from these plots will be provided to the Community Food Bank for pantry clients. Call Maria Bocelle at 609-383-8843, ext. 114, to sign up.
Historical Society dinner planned
The Greate Egg Harbor Township Historical Society will hold its second annual recognition dinner on May 17 at Harbor Pines Golf Course in Egg Harbor Township.
The dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will include a special presentation by Nucky Johnson’s friend and lawyer, Frank Ferry, who will discuss his new book, “Nucky.”

D-Day veteran to share his story
D-Day veteran Peter Fantacone will give a presentation on his experiences in the pivotal World War II battle May 31 at the Egg Harbor Township Community Center at 7 p.m. The presentation is sponsored by the Greate Egg Harbour Township Historical Society.

Jail or Bail fundraiser set
Egg Harbor Township PAL will hold its Jail or Bail fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m. May 16 at the Berkshire Grill, 6105 Black Horse Pike.
Members of the community volunteer to be “locked up” and must raise “bail” in the form of donations to the Egg Harbor Township Police Athletic League. See ehtpal.org to see inmates and help post bail, or join the event as a “witness” for $30 and enjoy a buffet. To be a sponsor, call 609-645-8413.
McGurks run and road rally returns
The Egg Harbor Township PAL, with sponsors Bennett Chevrolet and Chickie’s and Pete’s of Egg Harbor Township, will host the annual McGurks Memorial Motorcycle Run on May 26.
Proceeds from the event, held in honor of PAL volunteers Dennis McGurk and his wife, Oksana, will benefit McGurk’s Air Force Flying PAL’s Youth Aviation Club and other PAL programs.
The event begins with registration at Bennett Chevrolet at 6721 Black Horse Pike, followed by a scenic ride through the Pine Barrens, ending at Chickie’s and Pete’s, 6055 Black Horse Pike. Donations are $20 per driver and $15 per passenger, and registration is available at ehtpal.org.
