Police ask for public’s help

Due to several recent burglaries, the Egg Harbor Township Police Department is looking for the public’s help in the Veterans Park recreation area, police said in a news release.

The area, which is off Ocean Heights Avenue in the Scullville section of the township, is home to youth sports associations, school transportation and school grounds buildings. Police ask those in the area to keep an eye out for any suspicious vehicles, people or activity, and report it to police at 609-927-5200. Most of the activity is occurring during hours of darkness, police said. Anyone with information on recent burglaries also is asked to call the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 609-926-4051.

Zero tolerance policy for ATVs, dirt bikes at Scullville Park

On Oct. 13, the Egg Harbor Township Police Department Off-Road Motorcycle Unit was deployed to the new Scullville Park area as part of a Zero Tolerance initiative.

The police department will use its motorcycles, bicycles and four-wheel-drive vehicles to keep dirt bikes and ATVs out of the park as the area is turned into a nature preserve. ATVs found operating in the park area will be stopped and ticketed and could be towed. As part of this initiative, police ask for the public’s help in securing and protecting the park. Anyone who sees dirt bikes or ATVs in the park is asked to call police at 609-927-5200.
