Designer Consignments is a 20-year-old business in a new location that focuses on being a designer resale outlet. We carry thousands of name-brand, designer labels.

It’s all about value, quality and price.

We merchandise our store like an upscale boutique. All the prices are below wholesale.

We carry everything from Gucci to Gap. Some brands that sell well in here are Prada, Chanel and Mark Jacobs.

We do a big business in prom gowns. That’s big at this time of year. Evening wear is popular all year long.

We specialize in designer jeans such as True Religion and J Brand. All the jeans that are higher end and are $300 or more, you can pick up for $40 or $50 in our store. That’s a big thing with many women.

One of our biggest departments is designer handbags, such as Coach, Dooney & Bourke and Gucci. For example, a Coach bag for $298 in here would sell for less than $100.

You can make money by selling your designer items to us, or you can consign them and make a percentage of the sale, or you can trade them. That’s pretty popular these days.

We incorporate all three methods because people want options. Sometimes they don’t want to wait, they need money now. We try to customize it to each individual rather than have a set policy. Over 20 years, that’s where it has ended up.

We had a store on Tilton Road previously and another in the Shore Mall. We merged into the Shore Mall. It was an exciting few years and we picked up a lot of new customers. Things started to get lean around June when they started talking about demolishing the mall.

We were quick to get things together to save the business and pulled it together. Now we just need support from the local community.

Between the hurricane and news of the mall, it got kind of creepy. It wasn’t the holiday season we wanted.

But I love where we’re at, with plenty of parking and about the same amount of space.

We have a lot of things discounted in the store now to 70 percent off. And we have a lot of spring inventory coming in.
