Absegami High School  coach Elizabeth Lee earned her 100th career win as the Braves shut out Oakcrest 2-0 in a Cape-Atlantic League American Conference girls soccer game Wednesday in Absecon. 

Jenna Seddon led Absegami, ranked No. 9 in The Press Elite 11, with a goal and an assist. Erica Skroski scored her ninth goal in the win.

Lee is 100-41-11 in nine seasons at Absegami. She led the Braves to the South Jersey Group IV final last season.

“It snuck up on me pretty fast, but it’s very exciting,” Lee said. “It really says more about my players than anything else.”

The Braves’ Anthony Maruca turned a throw-in into a breakaway goal six minutes into the second half .

Absegami goalie Ryan Taylor earned his fifth shutout of the season by making four saves.

Goalie Ryan Costello had six saves for Oakcrest.

Brielle Clarke scored the game’s only goal and Audrey DelRe made seven saves for the Braves.

Girls tennis

Hammonton 3.5, Absegami 1.5

Hammonton High School defeated visiting Absegami 3.5-1.5 on Wednesday in a Cape-Atlantic League American Conference match. It was the Blue Devils’ first conference victory.

Heena Darji and Taylor Peyton won at second and third singles, respectively, to boost Hammonton’s chances. But it was the first doubles team of Cindy Negroni and Morgan Mitchell that put the Blue Devils over the edge.

Negroni and Mitchell fought back from a first-set loss to win the second set 6-4. They closed out the match by winning a tiebreaker 7-5.
