A married Galloway Township couple accepted a plea deal Friday for robbing local pharmacies of hundreds of oxycodone pills over a six-month period, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said.

The agreement calls for Russell DeMark, 32, and his wife, Nicole DeMark, 30, to serve eight years in prison. Neither would be eligible for parole until they have served 85 percent of their prison term, or six years and nearly 10 months.

The DeMarks, who had no prior criminal history, were arrested April 10 after entering numerous drugstores on separate occasions and demanding oxycodone pills.

The Prosecutor's Office said Russell DeMark approached pharmacy counters and demanded pills, while Nicole DeMark handed notes to pharmacists. Both threatened violence if their demands were not met, the Prosecutor's Office said.

The couple's six robberies included drugstores in Egg Harbor Township, Galloway Township and Absecon between Oct. 27, 2009, and April 10, 2010.

They were caught after Russell DeMark demanded Oxycodone at a CVS in the Smithville section of Galloway Township and a witness inside the store followed them to their home on the 600 block of East Lakefront Circle before calling police.
