Ashley Cook, 24, of Bargaintown in Egg Harbor Township, owns Candlewyck Cottage on the Village Greene at Historic Smithville. The business is celebrating its first anniversay at Smithville, but Cook has been the business for five years, the first four in Cape May County.
Candlewyck Cottage Candles and Gifts features soy-based candles that Cook makes in her home.
Ashley Cook, 24, of Bargaintown in Egg Harbor Township, owner of Candlewyck Cottage, right, made up a batch of potpourri while crafter and cashier Claire Unger, of Leeds Point, worked on a display of soy-based cupcake candles Jan. 11 at the store on the Village Greene at Historic Smithville in Galloway Township.
Cupcake candles, such as this banana nut-scented one, are a store favorite. ‘Little kids come in and try to take a bite out of them,’ Unger said. ‘They just smell delicious.’
