David Evans, of Galloway Township, was elected chairman of the Atlantic Cape Community College board of trustees.

MAYS LANDING — David Evans of Galloway Township was elected chairman of the Atlantic Cape Community College board of trustees at the annual reorganization meeting Tuesday.

Maria Torres, of Mays Landing, was named vice chairwoman and BettyAnn Inloes Hines, of Laureldale, was reappointed board secretary. Their terms run until November 2013. A nomination for the treasurer post is expected at the December meeting.

Evans is a teacher in the Galloway Township school district. Torres is a retired guidance counselor who serves on the board of New Jersey's Higher Education Student Assistance Authority.

The trustees also approved new associate in science degrees in biomedical science, chemistry and environmental science; and an applied science degree in radiologic technology in conjunction with Shore Medical Center's School of Radiologic Technology. Pending state approval, all will take effect in fall 2013.

The board also announced the retirement of Carmen Royal of Vineland, dean of students, effective Jan. 1.
