A police-involved crash in Hamilton Township resulted in a downed traffic light early Monday morning according to police.
Krystal Cruz, of Bethlehem, Pa., was heading southbound on County Road 575 when she allegedly failed to stop at a red light at the intersection of Route 40, police said in a release.
Her vehicle hit a Hamilton Township patrol car driven by Officer Belford Rivera.
Rivera's patrol car was forced onto the the center median, where it knocked down a pole supporting two traffic lights.
Rivera was treated at the scene and then transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus, for further treatment.
Cruz and her passenger were uninjured. Cruz was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, careless driving, and failure to observe a traffic signal.
The road was closed for about an hour. The westbound passing lane of Route 40 and the southbound travel lane of Country Road 575 will be closed until the pole can be removed from the roadway.
