Seventh-grade language arts teacher Dan Weber, of Mays Landing, talked about the students’ efforts in collecting jeans as part the jeans drive at Davies Middle School in Mays Landing organized by the school’s National Junior Honor Society. They are collecting the jeans as part of Aeropostale’s Jeans for Teens campaign, which distributes donated jeans to homeless teenagers.
National Junior Honors Society members Patrick Elkner, 13, Taylor Van, 13, and Lucie Pham, 13, all of Mays Landing, stacked some of the jeans collected as part the jeans drive at Davies Middle School in Mays Landing. ‘I was impressed at the amount we actually gained in just a week’s time,’ said Patrick, who runs the drive with fellow NJHS member Joseph Fraone. ‘I did not expect this many so quickly.’
Students Taylor Van, 13, and Lucie Pham, 13, both of Mays Landing, are working on the jean collection project. ‘I’m wearing jeans every day, and it’s hard for me to think about kids that don’t have jeans, because they’re such a normal part of my life.’ said Lucie, president of Davies’ National Junior Honor Society.
