Police support Put Brakes on Fatalities Day
Motorists are asked to join a daylong effort Oct. 10 to increase awareness about safe driving behaviors and keep the state’s roadways fatality free for one day, Hamilton Township Police said in a news release.
Put The Brakes On Fatalities Day is a national initiative to move toward zero fatalities for one full day and encourages motorists to obey all traffic laws, including buckling up, driving the posted speed limit, avoiding distractions, and staying safe and sober behind the wheel. Hamilton Township Police plan to be highly visible on all roadways in the township to support the effort.
Hess Complex places in summer reading competition
The George L. Hess Educational Complex in Mays Landing ranked as one of the Top 20 schools in the 2012 Scholastic Summer Challenge, logging a total of 907,524 minutes read.
The Hess Complex finished 13th out of 4,446 schools representing 32 countries. The school will be listed in the 2013 Scholastic Book of World Records, which will be available in winter 2012.
