Scarecrow contest planned

The Mays Landing Merchants Association will hold its 12th annual Fall Festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 28 in Memorial Park, at the intersection of Main Street and Route 50 in historic Mays Landing. The event includes a scarecrow contest and winners will be announced at the end of the day with cash prizes of $100, $75 and $50.

Contestants can choose a traditional, contemporary or humorous theme, but are reminded that this is a family event and the creativity must be acceptable for public display.

Register and find the rules at MaysLandingMerchants.com. Check in at the County Seat Florist at Main Street and Route 50 no later than 6 p.m. Sept. 27.

The scarecrows will be displayed at Memorial Park until they are moved to Lake Lenape East for display at the third annual Wine and Food Festival on Oct. 19-20. Contestants can pick up their scarecrows after 5 p.m. Oct 20 at Lake Lenape Park.
